in 1974, jet service began through northwest orient airlines , averaged on 500,000 passengers per year. in 1986, terminal tripled in size $12 million project expanded terminal 32,000 square feet 90,000 square feet, adding second level concourse 6 boarding bridges.

in 1991, $3.8 million expansion added 50-foot high glass atrium , commuter gate concourse – expanding terminal on 125,000 square feet. multi-level parking structure built in 1993 additional level added in 1998. in 2000, groundbreaking ceremony initiated phase 1 of 6-year, $68 million building project doubled size of terminal 274,000 square feet.

in 2002, wisconsin aviation dedicated new general aviation terminal on east ramp.

in 2006, robert skuldt, airport director 34 years, inducted wisconsin aviation hall of fame. executive conference room on main level dedicated in honor.

in 2009, airport received $4 million in stimulus dollars expand taxiway b south end of runway 18-36. taxiway used wisconsin air national guard aircraft , allows private jets return fixed-base operator without having hold on taxiway cross main runway.

on march 20, 2013, groundbreaking ceremony held new 58,000 square-foot snow removal equipment building. building opened in september 2014 , houses largest municipal solar array in wisconsin.

in 2014, several additional parking levels, creating 1,600 covered parking spaces, added 1 of airport parking structures @ cost of $30 million.

in 2014, airport secured funding category ii instrument landing system , other systems facilitate low visibility landings. ils system operational in late fall of 2016.

2016 marked record-breaking year best-ever passenger traffic airport 1,841,809 departing , arriving passengers. second-best year 2004.

in january 2017, ribbon cutting ceremony held celebrating opening of several new restaurant , shop locations. in november 2017, there 141 aircraft based @ airport: 71 single-engine, 15 multi-engine, 18 jet, 1 helicopter , 36 various military aircraft.
