the team changed name leland giants in 1905 after partnership split w.s. peters; in 1907 rube foster replaced leland manager , pete hill , foster strengthened club in field. leland remained president of board of directors leland giants until resigned in september 1909. while researchers believe there rift between foster , leland, newspapers of day reported frank leland, used own club on own, sold away rights stock company in 1909 , had little in management of team.


while rube foster continued run leland giants baseball club, leland started new corporation in october 1909 called leland s chicago giants baseball club or, in short chicago giants opening offices @ 2551 state street in chicago. signed bill lindsay first pitcher.


the confusion on leland name amongst teams changed rube foster changed leland giants name chicago american giants, , leland s team became chicago giants.
