Physical characteristics (53319) 1999 JM8

radar images , computer models of (53319) 1999 jm8

in smass , tholen classification, 1999 jm8 x-type asteroid. has been characterized carbonaceous c-type asteroid, seems more due exceptionally low albedo (see below).

rotation period

radar imaging goldstone , arecibo observatories revealed 1999 jm8 has unusually slow , possibly chaotic rotation period, similar of asteroid 4179 toutatis.

in july 1999, rotational lightcurve of 1999 jm8 obtained photometric observations. gave period of 7002136000000000000♠136±2 hours brightness amplitude of 0.7 magnitude (u=2), , suggest body in non-principal axis rotation, commonly known tumbling.

diameter , albedo

1999 jm8 measures between 5 , 7 kilometers in diameter , surface has exceptionally low albedo of 0.02.

the collaborative asteroid lightcurve link derives albedo of 0.03 , adopts diameter of 7 kilometers based on absolute magnitude of 15.2.
