paint , other finishes: painted surfaces painted olive drab or black , chrome- or nickel-plated parts blued or parkerized or painted white. parts left unfinished aluminum. however, harley-davidson apparently practical in use of existing parts , processes, , many finishes remained in bright civilian versions time, and, in cases, whole production run.
blackout lights: in order reduce nighttime visibility, wlas fitted second set of blackout head , tail lights.
fenders: reduce mud clogging, sides of standard fenders removed.
accessories: heavy-duty luggage rack (for radios), ammo box, leather thompson submachine gun scabbard, skid plate, leg protectors, , windshield fitted. came @ least these accessories less windshield or leg protectors.
air cleaner: oil bath air cleaner, used tractors , other vehicles in dusty environments, fitted handle dust of off-road use , allow easier field maintenance. oil bath cleaners require addition of standard motor oil rather replaceable filters.
fording: changes crankcase breather reduced possibility of water intake crankcase.
