on april 20, 1995, powerful pipe bomb exploded beneath wooden wheelchair ramp on north side of province house, destroying glass in windows , causing minor structural damage. several passersby injured , explosion occurred 5 minutes after entire class of school children on tour of building had passed through area. bombing occurred 1 day after oklahoma city bombing , considered copycat action. responsibility claimed group calling loki 7; however, subsequent police investigation , criminal court case blamed single individual, roger charles bell.


in 2015, province house closed repairs , conservation work. legislature moved adjacent hon. george coles building, expected remain several years.
