the university of texas of permian basin (utpb) began in 1973. utpb upper level , graduate university until texas legislature passed bill in spring 1991 allow university accept freshmen , sophomores. of 2006, university holding discussions nuclear regulatory commission construction of new high-temperature teaching , test reactor which, if successful, finish licensing , construction around 2012. first university-based research reactor built in in decade, , 1 of few htgr-type reactors in world. in january 2006, utpb s school of business awarded accreditation association advance collegiate schools of business international (aacsb). aacsb regarded premier accreditation agency world s business schools. according university, 30% of business schools in united states, , 15% of world business schools, have received aacsb accreditation.
