on 2 january 1924, fourth national assembly convened , decided abrogation of dynasty abolition of crowned democracy (a decision ratified referendum on 13 april 1924), establishing second hellenic republic.
whilst fourth constitutional assembly working towards completion of new constitution, coup d état of general theodoros pangalos took place. after fall of dictatorship in 1926, parliament of first term elected, which, finally, voted through constitution of 1927.

in event of disagreement between 2 houses in voting of law, constitution established supremacy of chamber s vote.
another significant element explicit institution of parliamentary system. first time, greek constitution included clause stating cabinet must enjoy confidence of parliament .
the second hellenic republic lasted until 1935. year, result of failed coup supporters of venizelos, military purged, , royalists, led georgios kondylis, launched successful coup on 10 october (el). constitution of 1927 abolished, constitution of 1911 re-instated, , king george ii came throne referendum.
