in recent years, wolverhampton city council have embarked on many city improvements , regeneration schemes. 1 such project summer row , new £300 million retail quarter wolverhampton city centre. project have involved clearing existing buildings, , in 2006 compulsory purchase order issued on 200 owner / occupiers in surrounding area. construction of summer row earmarked 2008, completion date listed 2010, 2008 recession put project on hold. in january 2011, summer row project officially declared dead government permission compulsory purchase order expiry date rolled round without council having found necessary financial backing project.

mander centre redevelopment

debenhams, listed anchor store of summer row, announced still keen in opening department store in wolverhampton. revealed open anchor store in £35 million redevelopment of mander centre. completed in 2017, 90,000 sq.ft store create 120 jobs. redevelopment see mander centre refurbished , reconfigured. number of larger stores created, replacing smaller ones. reconfiguration see relocation of toilets, escalators , elevators. lower central arcade removed , tesco , tj hughes demolished make way 3-storey debenhams store.

wolverhampton s interchange project major redevelopment of city s east side area worth around £120 million.

the i10 building contains 12,400 sq.ft of leisure , retail space on ground floor , 36,000 sq.ft of office space above



phase 1, completed in 2012, consisted of demolishing old bus station , replacing new £22.5 million station. phase included new footbridge across ring road towards railway station, highway , pedestrian works, new offices centro , sainsbury s convenience store.
phase 2 completed in late 2015, involved construction of £10.6 million i10 building adjacent new bus station. building contains 12,400 sq.ft of leisure , retail space on ground floor , 36,000 sq.ft of office space above.
phase 3 began in 2016 on expanding train station s multi-storey car park. completed december 2016, car park increase in capacity 450 on 800 spaces. expansion of multi-storey car park include new cycle , motorcycle parking, short stay parking, passenger drop off point , taxi rank adjacent car park. new entrance created.
