in 1871 satanta led several attacks on wagon trains in texas. undoing came warren wagon train raid on may 18, 1871. prior attack, indians had allowed army ambulance small guard pass unharmed; in general william tecumseh sherman, mamanti, medicine man, had advised other chiefs wait other, richer, loot.
