history
early years (1987-1995)

in 1987, drummer dambyn ganbayar founded first rock band fellow workers of ulaanbaatar s train depot. formation dubbed skorost depot s director, ganbayar renamed group mongolian hurd. incarnation of hurd won second place @ first mongolian pop , rock festival in 1989. members didn t along, first line-up didn t last. in 1991, lead guitarist dambyn otgonbayar joined hurd after having finished secondary school. followed next year bassist namsraijavyn naranbaatar. arrival of singer dambyn tömörtsog in 1993, second formation complete , began modern band.

rhythm guitarist t.naranbaatar joined hurd @ point between 1993 , 1995.

ticket hurd s unplugged concert

the first major concert hurd, called khar salkhi (mongolian: Хар салхи, black wind ), held @ state circus in march 1995. reason, hurd considered officially founded in 1995, although active since 1987.

hurd started famous among music listeners, song tsergiin bodol (mongolian: Цэргийн бодол, soldier s thoughts ), became hit. 1996 1997, hurd made kharankhui (mongolian: Харанхуй, darkness ) tour , released first 2 albums - best collection , best collection ii. these albums out of print today , have become rarities. in 1997, band made first tour outside of mongolia, traveling china s inner mongolia region.

prior 1997, drummer s duties filled ganbayar, until d.otgonbaatar has joined band. point on, ganbayar concentrated more on band s management , playing secondary instruments.

in never-been-done move, in may 1998, hurd held series of acoustic concerts, later released on cd unplugged. best of hurd s songs re-arranged event , performed accompanied string ensemble, saxophonist, morin khuur player , pianist.

Ödör shönö, myangan jild gants, best collection iii (1999-2003)

from 1999 2007, band under patronage of erel (a mongolian mining company) , owner b.erdenebat. founder of motherland party provided band new equipment , rehearsal space, in exchange electoral support , participation in party campaigns. release of 1999 album Ödör shönö, band used new name - erel-hurd (mongolian: Эрэл-Хурд), although remains sole occurrence other cassette tape compilation, shildeg duu, era.

in 2001, band released third studio album, best collection iii. contained hit single ekh oron, released in 1999, ekh oron s b-sides , more unreleased material best collection , ii s sessions, plus new track, shine jil, later put in next album myangan jild gants, included nu metal styled songs.

mongold törsön, züirlekh argagüi (2003-2005)

in 2004, released mongold törsön, album of patriotic songs, dedicated entire mongol diaspora. album more hard rock , rock n roll based. in 2004, experimented industrial metal , recorded 16 songs theme, releasing them züirlekh argagüi in 2005. on naadam day, played concert in sukhbaatar square, releasing talarkhalyn kontsert in 2009.

talarkhalyn kontsert, unplugged ii (2005-2009)

in july 2007, band had returned 4-month stay in united states, erel s managers have abruptly ordered band leave rehearsal space , ceased further cooperation. reasons led company management proceed in manner remain still unclear today.

both sides have come out of 8-year partnership reputations damaged - company having exploited band achieve political goals before rejecting them, , band having fraternized politicians interest.

rhythm guitarist t.naranbaatar has left hurd @ point in late 2008 reasons undisclosed yet.

khairyn salkhi (2009 onward)

in 2010, announced release of album khairyn salkhi, contains 12 songs revolving around theme of love. album did not released - few promotional card-sleeve cd copies, homemade cdrs , cassette tapes , @ least 1 semi-official pressing inner mongolian market released.

in 2013, released box set called black box - 20th anniversary limited edition contains studio albums, unplugged , cd version of acoustic unplugged-ii kontsert , 2 bonus cds, putting older albums print , giving khairyn salkhi first official release.

2018 mark hurd s official 25th anniversary , 40th anniversary of song tsergiin bodol , written in 1978.

a new album, narlag divaajin, recorded in 2014 , due out in 2016.
