to southwest, large inselbergs , tall hills separated deep gullies predominate. plateau gives way cameroon coastal plain in escarpments. topography has resulted in creation of lobé falls near kribi, lobé river meets sea in series of rapids. of plateau s highest points in region, such mbam minkom near yaoundé (1,295 m), , ntem massif near ebolowa (1,400 m).


to southeast, transition congo basin takes place on gently sloping peneplain. hills of eastern portion gentler of west. these hills known half-oranges , can seen in area of batouri , bélabo. lowest point of plateau sangha river valley in southeast.
