mughal-e-azam released on 5 august 1960, , became highest-grossing film @ time, record went unbroken 15 years until release of film sholay in 1975. madhubhala nominated filmfare award performance in mughal-e-azam.


in 1960, madhubala @ peak of career , popularity release of mughal-e-azam , barsaat ki raat. did have intermittent releases in 1960s. of these, such jhumroo (1961), half ticket (1962) , sharabi (1964), performed above average @ box office. however, of other films released during time marred absence , subsequent lack of completion due prolonged illness. these films suffer compromised editing, , in cases use of doubles in attempt patch-in scenes madhubala unable shoot. last released film jwala, although filmed in late 1950s, not issued until 1971.
