kadaň home several secondary schools long history. oldest of them gymnasium established in 1803 99 students , continued under control of piarists until 1823. seat of old gymnasium former minorites monastery (different franciscan monastery) near square in building residence of regional archives. institute of gymnasium reestablished in 1872 in new building. gymnasium again closed in 1951 , new industrial school moved building. still there today. new gymnasium established in 1968 , has remained on same premises since 1978. industrial school specialized @ first on mining (because of lignite , uranium mines in surroundings), since 1957 has been specialized on building , in 2001 added commercial academy educational program called industrial building school , commercial academy. agriculture school (now soŠs sou amos) established in 1862 so-called ackerbauschule. in front of building there valuable statues of albrecht daniel thaer , justus von liebig (restored in 2003). teaching in schools in german language until 1945. there 4 elementary schools in kadaň , school handicapped children.
