westfarms mall opened in 1974 original anchors jcpenney, g. fox & co., , sage-allen. mall known lavish ceilings , waterfall-style fountains and, sister mall, mall @ short hills in new jersey (also taubman company owned mall), designer made sure people see 1 end other. original mall corridor connects jcpenney , macy s women s , children.

the first expansion project of mall took place when lord & taylor moved bishop s corner in west hartford of mall in 1980s. short, new wing of mall connected lord & taylor center court, across sage allen.

in 1997, mall expanded once again , went through renovations when new england s first nordstrom department store opened. not did nordstrom build new store, new wing of 32 additional stores added, connecting nordstrom main mall corridor. second floor of nordstrom wing has entrance lord & taylor s second floor well.

the g. fox store converted sister filene s division in 1993. after sage-allen went out of business, sage-allen space became filene s men s & home store in 1995. both locations rebranded macy s.

from grand opening in 1974 until 2002, mall s center court featured waterfall-style fountains , small stage area, taking of area. renovation in 2002 removed of water display , gave space more open starbucks coffee located in center.

in 2008, westfarms announced renovation mall. main entrance received facelift introducing new signature dining p.f. chang s china bistro, in former pizzeria uno, , brio tuscan grille. both of these places include outdoor seating, summer time. also, westfarms brought in upscale stores louis vuitton, tiffany & co, & vera bradley replace departed stores timberland, l oréal, & fye.
