power came 2 centrally mounted daimler 4-cylinder petrol engines delivering 75 kw (101 hp) each; a7v carried 500 litres (110 imp gal) of fuel. top speed 15 kilometres per hour (9.3 mph) on roads , 5 kilometres per hour (3.1 mph) across country. 24 wheel suspension individually sprung—an advantage on unsprung british tanks.


compared of other world war tanks, a7v s road speed quite high, vehicle had poor off-road capability , high centre of gravity, made prone getting stuck or overturning on steep slopes. large overhang @ front , low ground clearance meant trenches or muddy areas impassable. driver s view of terrain directly in front of tank obscured vehicle s hull, meant there blind spot of 10 metres. however, on open terrain, a7v used success, , offered more firepower armoured cars available. power-to-weight ratio 5.1 kw/ton(6.8 hp/ton), trench crossing: 2.1 m (6 ft 11 in), ground clearance: 190 400 mm (7.5 15.7 in).
