the site converted parcels depot opened on 6 july 1970. royal mail constructed sorting office on opposite side of main line , connected mayfield overhead conveyor bridge crossed throat of piccadilly station. depot closed in 1986 following decision parcelforce, royal mail s parcels division, abandon rail transport in favour of road haulage. building has remained disused ever since, tracks mayfield removed in 1989 part of remodelling of piccadilly station layout. sorting office briefly reused indoor karting track, has been rebuilt square 1 development, prestige offices used network rail; parcel conveyor bridge removed in 2003.
