haleem has become popular dish in cities of hyderabad, telangana , aurangabad, maharashtra (aurangabad, first capital of hyderabad state) in india. originating arabic dish called harees, haleem introduced region during mughal period foreign migrants.


both mitthi (sweet) , khari (salted) variants served, commonly breakfast; likewise popular dish serve ending fast during ramadan. derivative in dried fruits , vegetables used, prepared during ramadan. served traditional starter @ muslim weddings , other celebrations.
