in 1463, king boromma trailokanat (1448-1488) of ayutthaya moved capital of empire phitsanulok, , ordered establishment of new temples, restoration of existing older ones. wat ratchaburana dates beginning of reign in phitsanulok. ordered construction chedi , other buildings on temple s campus. today, impressive chedi remains of original construction. however, other buildings have been constructed among ruins. @ 1 time, king mongkut (rama iv) headed construction , restoration project of temple.
