the commonwealth policy studies unit regarded respected authority on commonwealth . cpsu received go-ahead institute of commonwealth studies (icws), @ end of 1998 after feasibility study funded british , canadian governments. think-tank in world dedicated commonwealth affairs, unit worked on issues of globalisation, democracy, civil society, , human rights persons , agencies around commonwealth. through years, cpsu has become respected , valued part of commonwealth family, working closely commonwealth governments, commonwealth secretariat , commonwealth foundation. in addition range of projects, unit produced commonwealth ministerial policy brief ahead of every commonwealth ministerial meeting, commonwealth heads of government meetings.

the mission of cpsu act think-tank entire commonwealth. cpsu stimulated debate, enquiry, , sharing of ideas , information across commonwealth. cpsu fulfilled mission through ongoing programmes externally funded research projects, series of events, , extensive body of briefings , publications. cpsu projects aimed change way people thought, instance, youth engagement, legal reform, international aid architecture, food security , assisting developing , small island states maximise opportunities of globalisation. cpsu conducts wide range of first class policy studies on issues of wide concern. in addition, cpsu raised quality of policy-making governments, intergovernmental organisations, business , civil society, , local communities.

governance

the cpsu, starting small on basis of project funding, kept governance arrangements simple. of june 2008 unit had staff of ten people, including 2 interns. cpsu has international advisory board chaired lord chidgey, specified purposes may regarded subcommittee of advisory council of institute of commonwealth studies.
